Rob’s whiting smashes Long-standing record |
Fish recorder’s stunning catch breaks club’s best weight for species
Fountain Lake AC fish recorder and charter skipper Rob Hickin, who is also the Fountain Lake fishing officer and fish recorder, took a busman’s holiday along with a few mates on his boat Sea-Juicer and landed a club record whiting.
The previous record was the longest standing in the FLAC history, and had stood since 1971 at an impressive 4lb 8oz but Rob’s fish managed to beat this by 2oz.
When weighed on the club scales at a thumping 4lb 10oz this excellent fish made up a great days sport which saw plenty more good size whiting along with cod, rays and conger come to the net.
